C.F. Challenge Day #18

I wasn't sure I was going to be able to do my C.F. Challenge workouts today.
I slept in,
I got a bad headache,
I spent the afternoon in bed...

It wasn't looking to promising.

7:00 rolled around and I resolved that it had to be done.

I made up the workout I missed last Wednesday first (#13).

C.F. Challenge Day #16

Last week I did no CrossFit because I had major migraines EVERYDAY.
Still, I set a goal to do all 90 days, so I am making them up this week by doing one C.F. workout in the morning, and one in the evening.

  • Jump rope (no rope): 44 [358 total]
  • Squats: 13 [111 total]
  • Push-Press (bag with 2 cans of food storage): 10 [86 total]
  • Push-Ups (the girly kind): 6 [53 total]
  • Butterfly Sit-Ups: 7 [67 total]
Total Tabata score: 80

This is a repeat workout from 12/19/12.
I beat my previous score by 7 points!!!

I am getting better at the running/jogging!!!
I have been able to run all of the runs this week without walking!
Today Hunter did the 800 meter run around the neighborhood with me.
Yay!

Temple to Temple run

Today, as a familia, we competed in the first ever Temple to Temple run.
It was awesome!!!
Nowhere else in the world can you do a 5k from one temple to the next.
I think that is pretty awesome.

It was even cooler that it was all either downhill or flat.
No hills at the end of this run (like the 4th of July run).


7 of us competed together and here is the order we came in:

Yesterday I did a workout run on the track which was... Six 300's averaging 67 seconds for each one. Today was a recovery day so I ran a little more then 3.5 miles at an easy jog. GO TEAM!

After 10 hanging knee to elbows I had to go to the floor...ouch those were hard.
I did the 120 jumps instead of double unders.

I wasn't sure on the 300 ft. but my stride for a lunge is about 5 ft. so I just did 60 lunges - no weight.

Yoga and CrossFit Challenge Day #4!!!

This morning I started the day, again with 45 min of yoga.

This evening, after helping the grandparents move furniture, I ended the day with my CrossFit workout.

This time was significantly faster than a lot of the women on the site which made me feel like I did something wrong because I was definitely not sprinting - just jog/running.  I did only do burpees to plank and unweighted squats.
Bug was there helping me.

CrossFit Challenge Day 1!!!

Today I started the challenge on my favorite CrossFit (or CaliFit) blog.

I did burpees to plank,
box jump was to my bottom stair,
and I had to use a chair to help me do my pull-ups.

Yes...I know I am weak, hence the challenge.
I will improve.

Also, I did the workout at 10pm.
I almost didn't do it but I stuck to it today.

Coming home and getting over jet lag.

Well I've been gone almost 2 months.
1 of those months included hiking a mountain 6 days a week.
The next 2 weeks were spent hiking all over theaters and ancient sites 
(as well as eating my way through Greece - I should also include that).

I've spent the last week and change getting over jet lag.
A nine hour difference takes a big toll on a girl.

Today was my first workout since getting home and it was fantastic!!!

I made some changes (I didn't have a wall ball or box). 
I took my bag of 2 cans of food storage and "threw" that for the wall ball section.
By "threw" I mean I didn't actually let go of the bag.
Also I jumped up the stairs for the box jump.

My body is still adjusting to being back home in the desert but things are getting better everyday!

ARE YOU PROUD, ALISWAN?

Hunter here.
Aliswan keeps getting at me to blog my workouts since I hardly ever do it. So, I hope she reads the title AND TELLS ME HOW PROUD SHE IS. Today was yoga and crossfit. I've been having some problems with my wrist this past week so I'm trying to avoid putting weight on it which made yoga significantly shorter than normal. And lucky for me, crossfit did not involve any wrist. Click here! My time was 11:39.

CRAZY!!!

Today Hunter and I had a crazy exercise day.
It started with yoga this morning.

Then I biked to work this morning, Hunter biked to my work this evening.

Then we walked our bikes together to the RB, changed and got ready for our CrossFit workout.

Then we walked the half mile to the outdoor track only to find that the track team was having practice.
So we walked back to the indoor track on the other side of the RB for our workout.

We had to modify our CrossFit workout (found here) a bit for the indoor track.
We did 3 laps, 2 laps, and then 1 lap.
We figured it was pretty close.
Time: 30:33.

After that workout we walked back, got our stuff, and biked home.
Good, crazy, day.

Checking off my lists.

Today was fantastic!!!
I checked everything off in my planner.
That included working out.

This morning I did yoga for 1 hour which was a nice way to start the day.
I biked to work (super fast because I was a little late this morning),
worked etc.,
walked to the swimming pool,
did laps for 30 minutes to work my injured shoulder out,
and biked home.

Whoa...what a day.

Today was stupendous.
Today, for the first time, I walked from the temple to work.
It is a marvelous 2.34 miles downhill.
I walked at an average of 5.8 mph.
Yep, yep.
I rely on mapmyrun.com for these stats by the way.

After work I came home to delicious hoagies and fun times with the family for family home evening.
I ate 2 very large hoagies.

I went downstairs to do my homework but it was taking a long time to download.
So, I did CrossFit!!!

It was brutal.
Absolutely brutal.

I did 1 round plus the first set of burpees in the 17 minute time limit.
(I just realized I did the workout wrong - I did 40/40, 30/30, 20/20, 10/10 instead of what she has listed...oh well, I'm still sweating like a pig.)

In case you are wondering, that equals:
140 burpees and 100 hang squat cleans.

Morning yoga and a touch of CrossFit

Today I found a solution to the yoga schedule.
I made this schedule - it is a really good workout - but it can get boring after a few weeks.
This happened yesterday and the result was that I only got half a workout in.

About half way through my yoga practice this morning I started to get bored and thought, 
"Well, the CrossFit workout today is pretty short, maybe I'll do that now."

Good choice.
Why?
Because after CrossFit I wanted more stretchy, nice, comfy yoga.
I just may do this all the time.
We'll see.

So, this morning:

Early Bird

My title's a bit deceptive. I wasn't actually an early bird. At least not in the sense that I woke up early. But I did do crossfit early! Aliswan and I have a fancy dinner we're going to tonight, so I figured I had best get this done now. My time was 7:55. I've been bad the past few days and have barely done any exercises so I'm glad to have done so today!

Marvelous

Hunter here. Today, I did many things. These things included Just Dance, yoga, and crossfit. They were all marvelous. Sadly, I did all of these things by myself. Which made it less marvelous, but there you have it. Crossfit today involved doing pull ups, which I discovered I am not capable of doing. But try I did! My time was 10:07. I ended up doing a combination of 'step ups' and jumping onto our lowest stair for the box jumps since we don't have a box to jump on. (Look at us lacking boxes and balls to throw at walls. Fifty is the Loneliest Number

Hello, world! This is Hunter. I worked out today. All by my lonesome. Because Aliswan was diseased. Not really. She was just really tired and had a migraine. SO ALL BY MY LONESOME. Anyway, I did the "Filthy Fifty" crossfit, which can be found here: Filthy Fifty
My time was 18:10, leaving out the 50 wall balls as we do not have a wall ball. Or a place to throw a ball at the wall. Also, instead of the box jump it was more of a step up on the stairs 50 times. Overall, it was not too shabby.

A partial day.

Today was a half day.

Half a workout team,
half a workout,
half the energy...

This has been because I have been getting about half the sleep I need for the past week.

Insomnia is a beast.

Still, I wanted to get in at least most of a crossfit workout today so I did it at 9pm.

It was late and I was to tired to do the whole thing so I made some adjustments.

Instead of an 800 meter run (it is below zero outside) I did 3 minutes of cardio INSIDE.
Also, I did 3 rounds instead of 5.

I am also trying to get back into the habit of doing abs every night before bed.
Again, instead of doing 25 reps of every move I only did 10 and ended up doing about 8 minutes of abs.

All by myselelelf...kinda

Today Hunter and I were together but separate.

This morning we did lafagoga.

Then I walked to work, to the library and home for a grand total of 1.5 hours of walking.
It was really nice actually.

This evening, since I had not had enough calories today, I was not allowed to workout but Hunter did CrossFit!!!

Actually she is finishing it as I am typing this.
She is awesome and very, very tired.

Tomorrow I will remember to eat breakfast before I leave for work and actually pack a lunch.
A bag of popcorn for lunch simply does not cut it.

Yoga and the DailyHiit

Today I was good...eventually.

I just didn't feel like working out this morning.

So, being the stubborn woman I am I got out my yoga mat, blocks, and books and tried to force myself to do yoga. 

About 30 minutes passed of Hunter and I laying there laughing about our dangerous tv.
No yoga.

This evening on the other hand I suddenly felt the urge and did yoga for about 60 minutes.
Hunter joined me at the very end which was really nice.

After going to a birthday party Speedy and I came home and did a workout from dailyhiit.

The workout was composed of 2 parts: a 6 minute prep workout and a 4 minute workout.
It was short, sweet, and very sweaty.

Workout Prep scores:
Speedy: 7, 5, 8, 6, 8
Aliswan: 18, 10, 21, 14, 13

Workout scores:
Speedy: 5, 3, 14, 3
Aliswan: 9, 5 ,14, 5

So, new workout today (the dailyhiit) and I think I'll probably use the site again.
We'll see.
Maybe just on weekends when crossfit mamas don't have a workout.
