Last day of CrossFit this year!!!

I miss Hunter.

Today I did CrossFit all by my lonesome.

I figured it is the last time I can do crossfit in 2012 so I probably should do it.

The workout for today can be found here.

My time was:   8:13

Goodbye 2012!

Friday, December 28, 2012

It's been a long time...

At least it feels that way.

Christmas sweets don't make the best workout buddy.

Today Bug and TayTay did CrossFit with me.

It has been awhile...therefore it was very hard for me.

Our workout can be found here.

(as always, we did girly push-ups and they were still brutal)

Times:

TayTay: 10:10
Bug: 10:16
Aliswan: 11:04

death to the girly push-ups...they kill me. :(

Now we are off to get ready to go to Les Miserables!
(if we can get to the theater through the constant (but beautimus) snow outside)

Sore

This morning Hunter and I did lafagoga over gmail video chat.
It was a hard one and we were both still sore from yesterday.

That means we fell a lot.

This evening I did crossfit all on my lonesome.

It was really hard and I am super sore.

Here is the workout.

Scores:

tabata jump rope: 41
tabata squats: 13
tabata push press: 7
tabata push-up: 4
tabata sit-up: 8

total tabata score: 73

So, in a tabata interval workout your score is the lowest number of reps you do after 8 intervals.
Those are my tabata scores but here are the total reps accomplished in 8 intervals for each exercise.

jump rope: 340
squats: 111
push press: 78
push-ups: 40
sit-ups: 65

I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to move in the morning.

Newcomers!!!

This morning Hunter and I did lafagoga together via Facetime.

It was pretty awesome though I miss her being in the same room.

This evening we did crossfit with Bug and Deruda!

It was super fun doing it all together.

The workout can be found here.

Number of Intervals:

Deruda: 12
Hunter: 8
Bug: 8
Aliswan: 6

I had a rough time with the push-ups but the others rocked it!!!

Also, happy anniversary to the parentals!!!
Way to be married for 26 years!!!
We all love you!!!

Super quick...

Hunter and I are now a state away from each other.

But fear not, that does not prevent us from doing Lafagoga and CrossFit.

We couldn't do lafagoga this morning but we did the fastest CrossFit workout yet this evening.

Here is the workout.

Times:

Aliswan: 3:00
Hunter: 3:50

The differences in our times were mostly because Hunter was sprinting across her room with 3 kids and a dog which sometimes got in the way.

Lazy Man

Bug, the padre, and I are doing a Lazy Man Iron Man.

That means you have a month to do an Iron Man.

I don't know if the Bug or the Padre will finish in time.

Crazy schedules and weather have got them seriously behind on their mileage.

In order to try to make up some of that mileage we set out this morning to do a 3 mile route a few times to rack up some mileage.

There were pros and cons to this.
In fact, some of the pros were also cons.

The route was beautiful and even or downhill until the last 7 block stretch.
It was so beautiful that we went rather slowly for the first 6 miles just enjoying the beautiful morning.
The con to that was we used up a lot of time on those first 6 miles.
So we only did the route 3 times and then had to head home.

It was a half a mile to the route,
the route 3 times was 9 miles,
and the ride home was another half a mile.

In total: 10 miles

For the Lazy Man Iron Man bike totals that puts us each at:

Aliswan: 32/112
Bug: 10/112
the padre: 10/112

We have a little less than 2 weeks!

Aliswan: walk 3 miles and bike 15.  Wednesday I also walked 2 miles and biked 7.

Hunter: CrossFit workout in sets of 21-18-15-12-9-6-3.
Time: 8:43

Good day.

The Quickie

Today's workout was super fast...under 7 minutes.

I haven't done CrossFit, or anything really, for a week.

I dislocated my shoulder...ugh.

Amy and I did CrossFit today for the first time in a week.

I hugged my arm to my torso the whole time and didn't use any weights.

Times:
Aliswan: 6:00
(I wasn't using any weights)

Hunter: 6:40
(Hunter is strong and has 2 working arms...aka, she used weights)

Uphill battle...jk, jk don't do it...but really it was.

Today Hunter titled this post...and it is very accurate.

Today's CrossFit workout can be found here.

Before the workout I got on mapmyrun.com in order to map a route of 1000 meters.

Which I did, and which we just finished doing.

It was pretty.

Stats for this workout:

1000 meter run:
(in our case run at the beginning, speed walk in the middle, and run down the hill at the end)

Aliswan: 7:51
Hunter: 7:52

Tabata interval scores:

Aliswan: 10
Hunter: 10

REALLY quick workout but we are both super sweaty.

Happy Thursday!

We're so hot we are fogging up the windows terribly...

The title of this post comes from Hunter who got after us for fogging up her car windows on the way home from the track tonight.

Hunter and I have a schedule.

Granted we don't always stick to it...and by that I mean we usually don't.

This week has been a bit different though.

Our endurance is slowly building and so we are able to do more things which is great.

Usually the schedule is like this:

Monday and Tuesday: Lafagoga and CrossFit
Wednesday: Lafagoga and running with Erica
Thursday: CrossFit
Friday: CrossFit...maybe.

This week we have been doing really well except when we looked at Tuesday's CrossFit workout we realized that it was a workout that needed to be done on a track.  So we did without CrossFit on Tuesday and did Tuesdays workout this evening on the track.

The workout for Tuesday (but done on Wednesday) can be found here.

We loved it actually and can't wait to do it again.

The times, including the prescribed rests in between the runs, were as follows:

Bug: 28:19
Aliswan: 34:58
Speedy: 41:32
Hunter: 41:36

It was a great workout and we definitely recommend it!

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Yup I did it again!

45 minutes of Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss and my muscles are not loving me right now but they will! Total stress reliever too cuz of all the deep breathing! LOVE IT!!

Bring on the Monday!!!

Mondays rock in our apartment.

Especially this one.

Here is a little run down of our Monday:

7am: Lafagoga with Aliswan, Hunter, and Speedy for 65 minutes.

8:45am: Aliswan sprints on her bike to work (I literally cut my time in half)

4:30pm: Aliswan bikes home from work.

This workout was to see how many reps you could do in 25 minutes.

Aliswan & Bug: 21
Hunter & Speedy: 20

We worked our butts off today...literally actually, quite literally.

Woo hoo! Here we go again!

So I did the whole losing the poundage thing and then boom! Super stress with the ex taking me to court, having to relive all the old nightmares and that equaled gaining back 8 of those hard lost pounds back! So, now that my muscles are all rockstars at the whole work "workout" I have to step it up a notch to lose that same weight again plus the rest of the fat cells that have big egos.
The plan now is to work out 6 days a week and not die. Also, eat healthy meals, and not starve. Pretty simple plan (which are usually the hardest to follow; I give you the Israelites for example).
Today I did the super awesome TaeBo workout with Billy Banks the original master of sweat and pain. The great part was that it started off with punches and to get a good motivation going I really did visualize someones' face and I was punching the crap out of it! Loved this workout for the difficulty and the therapy!

Oh the sweaties...

Today Hunter and I kicked our own butts...or elbows seeing as what the workout was today.

CrossFit workout for the day: "Slayer"

Times:

Aliswan: 10:38
Hunter: 11:05

Yep, still shaking and super, supersuper sweaty.

Yay for CrossFit!

Also this morning we did a 60 minute lafagoga workout.
(Hunter and my name for morning yoga)

Awesome workout day!

Topping it off

I, Aliswan, have been sick in bed most of the week.

Therefore, no working out.

I couldn't even bike to my class, I had to have my sweet roommate and sister give me a ride.

BUT it was a quick head cold and has pretty much worked itself out.

which means...

Hunter and I did CrossFit Mamas again this morning!!!

This mornings workout was "Britta"

Times:

Aliswan: 14:15
Hunter: 16:19

We also spent the morning cleaning, with the rest of our ward volunteers, our new stake center.

It was good times all around.

CrossFit Roomies

This morning Hunter and I did another CrossFit Mamas workout - 2011 CrossFit Games Regional: Workout 6.

Happy Friday!!!

Lafagoga and CrossFit

Hunter and I have a morning ritual of doing lafoga.

Well, now it is referred to as lafagoga.

We used to do this at 6am...not anymore.

Now we lafagoga at 7am.

Much better.

Today we also decided to set the goal of doing CrossFit Mamas.

Before you get any ideas, Hunter and I are not Mamas...but the website is so awesome!

Today was our first day and we did the "Ruth Anne" option.

It took us:

Aliswan: 49 minutes
Hunter: 52 minutes

Tomorrow, we will do another...we hope.

But it is so good for the legs...

My car broke...all the way broke.

It now lives in a junkyard.

Since my life is a bit up in the air at the moment I decided to not replace it immediately.

Instead, I ride my bike everywhere.

Yesterday I rode my bike for a grand total of about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Most of that time was trying to get up many hills.

The way back went MUCH faster.

Also this morning, Hunter and I did yoga again.

That is officially everyday this week so far!

Yay!

Saturday, August 25, 2012

6am....happy...why?

Once upon a time Hunter and I started doing yoga at 6am.

This was Hunter's choice.

I am not a morning person.

Neither is Hunter.

But somehow, except on Wednesday, we did yoga at 6am every morning this week.

It was fun.

We fell.

We laughed.

We...not going to say what else.

Just know, yoga in our apartment is now known as lafoga.

If you can figure out why, then you get a prize.

Knowledge.

New training, yoga, and conference talks.

I finally have gotten my 5k training started.

I've been trying to get going for 1.5 weeks now to no avail.

Yesterday though I kicked it into gear with a 45 min. walk/run with Rosie (our dog) at 6 am.

I like running in the morning, you either wake up or die.

I walked for 5 minutes and then ran (yes, ran NOT jogged) for 5 minutes on and off for the entire 45 minutes.

If any of you lack motivation feel free to take Rosie with you.

She is part Border Collie and if you are not running fast enough she turns around and tugs on the leash to get you to pick it up.

I am way to slow for her despite my attempts to run my heart out.

Oh well, Juanita (my college team cross country brother) can't keep up with her either.

_________________________________________________

In other news, I started listening to conference talks while doing my daily yoga practice.

I found it to be incredibly relaxing, calming, and enlightening.

I try to focus on breathing, clearing my mind and such while doing my yoga.

I think because of that I was able to focus more and hear better the words of the talks.

I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.

Yesterday I listened to the talks associated with this link on the lds.org website.

Super cool website by the way.

Have a marvelous day!

Getting back in the swing of things

Well I just got back from a nice trip and find that I am tired and weak.

At least that is what my jet lag has been telling me.

So, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things by doing at least one thing everyday.

Friday I started running again.
I actually ran on the treadmill (which I despise) at 9pm (which I actually really liked) for 20 minutes in total.
That included: 5 min. walking warmup, 10 minute jog, 5 min. walking cooldown.
I was slow, I wanted to give up (running, I am finding, is a mental sport), but I stuck to it and finished.

Saturday we went on a family bike ride.

While Speedy and Bug may not have posted about it, they were there.

We started at the mouth of Provo Canyon and biked up to Vivian Park.
It is a relatively tough ride.
At least it was for me and my little mountain bike.
My sister in law Morgan switched me bikes (she has a lovely aluminum road bike) and suddenly the ride was much easier and considerably faster.
So we went up to Vivian Park and back down.
11.71 miles my friends!
It wiped me out but it was absolutely beautiful and super fun.

I am still jet lagged and really tired so this week I'm trying to run a little and do yoga everyday.

Short, Simple, and Sweet!

Okay so ya I haven't posted in a very long time sooooo here we gooooo!!!!!

I have been running and throwing on the track team and an easy little warm up that we do every day is to run a few laps around the track and then stretch.
I ran 3 miles the other day and have been doing some lifting and ab workouts.
I have also been throwing a javeline, discuss and 8 lbs. shot put as an arm workout. :)

Soooo there you go! Short, simple, and sweet.

I have a lot of cleaning and laundry to do today also so I am counting that as arms workout lol! Woo hoo! Ready to get rid of this winter storage and discover the muscles I have under the insulation!

Schedule of Pain: Triathlon training

I finally found a swimming buddy!!! For the past two weeks I've been up, ready and swimming at 6 in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Jen may scoff at the time, but I honestly haven't regularly woken up before 8 am since swimming in high school. So HA! Anyway, I've been working out my legs a lot because I'm doing the SUU Indoor Triathlon in March (the 23rd). I won't have any problems with the swim, but it's the bike and the run that I'm worried about, hence the major leg workouts. Here's what I've been doing:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Go to the gym
Run for 25 minutes
(I've been getting 3 1/2 miles on the elliptical)
Bike for 25 minutes
(I've been getting around 7-8 miles)

Tuesday, Thursday
Swim for an hour
(generally 300 warm-up, kick for a while, pull a 100, kick some more, 100 cool down)
Jazz class
(1 hr 45 min of butt-kicking exercise!)

Saturday (optional)
Abs workout at the gym

This is the schedule of pain. I'll record and post my Jazz warm-up as soon as I can, so you can enjoy this wonderful, funny-looking, work out!

Thursday, March 1, 2012

Oops...have not been posting.

It has been a bit since I posted, but I HAVE been working out.

Promise.

This week I have been doing it pretty regularly.

Mondays, and Wednesdays I do yoga in the morning.
I do it until I feel good.
It takes between 30 to 60 minutes to feel good in the morning.
I'm just not a morning person I guess
Tuesdays and Thursdays I do pilates and ballet.
I do it until the dvd's have finished.
Or until I am finished in a tired ball of bones on the floor.
(while listening to the dvd in the background)
If I finish both it takes about 85 minutes.
This week...60 minutes.

I am so tired this week.
Partly because I'm having insomnia problems.
Mostly because I caught a head cold and food makes me nauseous.
No food, no energy, not so keen on the workout.

But I'm hoping I'm on the mend.

Oh! and I walk to class and work everyday.
Which, depending on the day, is between 2.5 and 3.3 miles round trip.

Yep, yep.

Woot Woot!!

Yup I exercised again!! lol actually I exercise every day as part of my job now but it's a lot of lifting and so today I did some cardio :) I did the Dancing With The Stars Fat-Burning Cardio Dance workout for 50 minutes and then a cooldown. I was sweating a ton, (literally dripping) and feeling like a total white girl for not really getting the hang of all the latin dance moves but totally had all the disco ones down lol! Anyhoo, according to myfitnesspal.com I burned 466 calories! That's 256 more calories than what I ate for breakfast!! AWESOME!! Hopefully I can keep up this awesomeness cuz for the longest time I was fluctuating within a 4 pound range (258-262 and yes I just put my weight on here! HA! It's just a number!!) and now I am down to 257! Take that! I really want to be healthy and I am well on my way now! I drink a ton of water at work and have cut back substantially on my soda intake (2 in 2 weeks) and am working on that whole eating healthy thing! I have realized too that I haven't been eating anything after about 7pm and am getting 8-9 hours of sleep a night so my body is loving life right now :)

This is How a Heart Breaks!

Don't you wanna go for a ride
Just keep your hands inside (ie: use the equipment correctly)
And make the most out of life
Now don't you take it for granted

Life is like a mean machine (it's called an eliptical)
It made a mess outta me
It left me caught between
Like an angry dream I was stranded, I was stranded (runnin' in place runnin' in place)

And I'm steady but I'm starting to shake (feel the burn!)
And I don't know how much more I can take

[Chorus:]
This is it now
Everybody get down (pushups)
This is all I can take
This is how a heart breaks (158 bpm)
You take a hit now you feel it break down
Make you stay wide awake (oh I'm so sore!)
This is how a heart breaks

Don't you wanna go for a ride
Down to the other side
Feels so good you could cry (endorphins!)
Now won't you do what I told you (I'm trying Jess!)
I remember when you used to be shy
Yeah, once we were so fine (the high school physique)
You and I why you gotta make it so hard on me

And I'm sorry but it's not a mistake (I signed up for this: literally)
And I'm running but you're getting away (trottin' in place trottin' in place)

So if you can't tell, I based my post off of a song because this is the song that pops into my head when I think of cardio workouts. This semester I'm taking a circuit weight training class which is basically a shorter term for: go to the gym, workout 3 times a week, and get credit for it :) So the 4 times I've gone to the gym I've done strictly cardio. I've started with a 2 mile warm-up on the eliptical and then I head down to the bike for the rest of the workout. Not super complicated, but I'm feeling it in my legs and it gets my heart pumping :)
