Lafagoga and CrossFit

Hunter and I have a morning ritual of doing lafoga.

Well, now it is referred to as lafagoga.

We used to do this at 6am...not anymore.

Now we lafagoga at 7am.

Much better.

Today we also decided to set the goal of doing CrossFit Mamas.

Before you get any ideas, Hunter and I are not Mamas...but the website is so awesome!

Today was our first day and we did the "Ruth Anne" option.

It took us:

Aliswan: 49 minutes
Hunter: 52 minutes

Tomorrow, we will do another...we hope.

But it is so good for the legs...

My car broke...all the way broke.

It now lives in a junkyard.

Since my life is a bit up in the air at the moment I decided to not replace it immediately.

Instead, I ride my bike everywhere.

Yesterday I rode my bike for a grand total of about 1 hour and 20 minutes.

Most of that time was trying to get up many hills.

The way back went MUCH faster.

Also this morning, Hunter and I did yoga again.

That is officially everyday this week so far!

Yay!

6am....happy...why?

Once upon a time Hunter and I started doing yoga at 6am.

This was Hunter's choice.

I am not a morning person.

Neither is Hunter.

But somehow, except on Wednesday, we did yoga at 6am every morning this week.

It was fun.

We fell.

We laughed.

We...not going to say what else.

Just know, yoga in our apartment is now known as lafoga.

If you can figure out why, then you get a prize.

Knowledge.

New training, yoga, and conference talks.

I finally have gotten my 5k training started.

I've been trying to get going for 1.5 weeks now to no avail.

Yesterday though I kicked it into gear with a 45 min. walk/run with Rosie (our dog) at 6 am.

I like running in the morning, you either wake up or die.

I walked for 5 minutes and then ran (yes, ran NOT jogged) for 5 minutes on and off for the entire 45 minutes.

If any of you lack motivation feel free to take Rosie with you.

She is part Border Collie and if you are not running fast enough she turns around and tugs on the leash to get you to pick it up.

I am way to slow for her despite my attempts to run my heart out.

Oh well, Juanita (my college team cross country brother) can't keep up with her either.

In other news, I started listening to conference talks while doing my daily yoga practice.

I found it to be incredibly relaxing, calming, and enlightening.

I try to focus on breathing, clearing my mind and such while doing my yoga.

I think because of that I was able to focus more and hear better the words of the talks.

I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it.

Yesterday I listened to the talks associated with this link on the lds.org website.

Super cool website by the way.

Have a marvelous day!

Getting back in the swing of things

Well I just got back from a nice trip and find that I am tired and weak.

At least that is what my jet lag has been telling me.

So, I'm trying to get back into the swing of things by doing at least one thing everyday.

Friday I started running again.
I actually ran on the treadmill (which I despise) at 9pm (which I actually really liked) for 20 minutes in total.
That included: 5 min. walking warmup, 10 minute jog, 5 min. walking cooldown.
I was slow, I wanted to give up (running, I am finding, is a mental sport), but I stuck to it and finished.

Saturday we went on a family bike ride.

While Speedy and Bug may not have posted about it, they were there.

We started at the mouth of Provo Canyon and biked up to Vivian Park.
It is a relatively tough ride.
At least it was for me and my little mountain bike.
My sister in law Morgan switched me bikes (she has a lovely aluminum road bike) and suddenly the ride was much easier and considerably faster.
So we went up to Vivian Park and back down.
11.71 miles my friends!
It wiped me out but it was absolutely beautiful and super fun.

I am still jet lagged and really tired so this week I'm trying to run a little and do yoga everyday.

I have been running and throwing on the track team and an easy little warm up that we do every day is to run a few laps around the track and then stretch.
I ran 3 miles the other day and have been doing some lifting and ab workouts.
I have also been throwing a javeline, discuss and 8 lbs. shot put as an arm workout. :)

Schedule of Pain: Triathlon training

I finally found a swimming buddy!!! For the past two weeks I've been up, ready and swimming at 6 in the morning on Tuesdays and Thursdays! Jen may scoff at the time, but I honestly haven't regularly woken up before 8 am since swimming in high school. So HA! Anyway, I've been working out my legs a lot because I'm doing the SUU Indoor Triathlon in March (the 23rd). I won't have any problems with the swim, but it's the bike and the run that I'm worried about, hence the major leg workouts. Here's what I've been doing:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday
Go to the gym
Run for 25 minutes
(I've been getting 3 1/2 miles on the elliptical)
Bike for 25 minutes
(I've been getting around 7-8 miles)

Tuesday, Thursday
Swim for an hour
(generally 300 warm-up, kick for a while, pull a 100, kick some more, 100 cool down)
Jazz class
(1 hr 45 min of butt-kicking exercise!)

Saturday (optional)
Abs workout at the gym

This is the schedule of pain. I'll record and post my Jazz warm-up as soon as I can, so you can enjoy this wonderful, funny-looking, work out!

Oops...have not been posting.

It has been a bit since I posted, but I HAVE been working out.

Promise.

This week I have been doing it pretty regularly.

Mondays, and Wednesdays I do yoga in the morning.
I do it until I feel good.
It takes between 30 to 60 minutes to feel good in the morning.
I'm just not a morning person I guess
Tuesdays and Thursdays I do pilates and ballet.
I do it until the dvd's have finished.
Or until I am finished in a tired ball of bones on the floor.
(while listening to the dvd in the background)
If I finish both it takes about 85 minutes.
This week...60 minutes.

I am so tired this week.
Partly because I'm having insomnia problems.
Mostly because I caught a head cold and food makes me nauseous.
No food, no energy, not so keen on the workout.

But I'm hoping I'm on the mend.

Oh! and I walk to class and work everyday.
Which, depending on the day, is between 2.5 and 3.3 miles round trip.

Yep, yep.
